Domino’s makes between 1.5-3 million pizzas a day.
They aren’t doing this volume because they’re better at pizza.
They’re make so many because when someone’s hungry, they make ordering stupidly easy. No thinking. No guessing. No clicking around like you’re doing taxes.
People don’t “navigate a customer journey” when they want pizza. They just want the pizza.
Thing is, there’s a 5-step plan for you to steal some of these customers away without having to become some Silicon Valley techbro.
1. People search “pizza near me.” That’s it.
Nobody is reading 40 reviews or stalking your social media “content strategy.”
They type three words. They tap the first decent option.
Domino’s shows up because they’ve filled out all their Google stuff (which, actually, we will do for you.)
When you make it easy to find you, you get more orders.
2. People check reviews to make sure you’re not a disaster.
Customers skim reviews looking for things like:
- “Is the pizza good?”
- “Did anyone say they got sick?”
- “Does this place answer the phone?”
- “How fast will it get here?”
They also want to see you didn’t scream at anyone in the replies.
Real photos help too.
3. Ordering needs to be painless, not a puzzle.
Ordering should:
- Let people add a pizza
- Let people pay
- Tell people when it’ll be ready (and/or how long it will take to get to them)
If your system tries to do anything fancier, most customers will hate it.
Simplify online ordering so you become the go-to.
4. Delivery & pickup times just need to be real.
Say how long it’ll take. No optimism.
Customers aren’t interested in “your best guess” or, honestly, being lied to.
They’d rather have a pizza show up in 50 minutes when you told them it’d be 50 minutes, than 50 minutes when you told them it’d be 30 just to close the deal.
Or, offer an estimate in the app experience to temper expectations.
5. First-time customers need one reason to trust you.
“That’s the problem with first impressions: You only get one.”
If a customer’s first experience with you is forgettable, guess what? You are too. One small perk or kind gesture makes people feel seen.
Maybe this is a special message on your pizza boxes.
Or a free large soda with your first order.
A little bit goes a long way and can help with repeat orders.
The Bottom line / How to win the Pizza Game:
You don’t need a TikTok strategy.
You don’t need SEO funnels.
You just need to be seen and to make ordering simple and human.
