For over a century, Santillo’s Brick Oven Pizza has been more than a place to grab a slice — it’s been a cornerstone for the community, steeped in tradition and fueled by a love for the craft. From Lou Santillo’s horse-drawn bread deliveries in 1917 to the iconic pizza recipes defined by Al Sr. and Al Jr., Santillo’s Brick Oven Pizzeria has been a household name. Dave Portnoy even took a visit and rated their pizza a high of 8.3.
On January 6, 2024, Al’s world changed. What once was a bustling pizza shop in the heart of Elizabeth, New Jersey became a blaze in a matter of moments. Thankfully the Elizabeth Fire Department was able to quickly help — however the oven remains unusable in its current state.
