The Biggest Ordering Day of 2025: Halloween (October 31) π
No one is shocked by this. Halloween 2025 was the single biggest ordering day of the year, and it wasn’t even close.
On October 31, we observed pizzerias processing well over $8 million in GOV, with an average order value of $42.11. That’s a staggering 137.7% increase over the same day in 2024. The single highest-value order that day hit $2,991.
Why? In 2025, Halloween fell on a Friday, creating the perfect storm for families ordering before trick-or-treating and parties, winding down with late-night slices.

6 key insights from the Top 25 Pizza Ordering Days of 2025 data
How ordering patterns differ across the country
The data tells a different story depending on where your shop is located.
Large Metro Areas (Urban Centers)
Urban pizzerias see the highest raw volume but the lowest AOV, typically $32β$36 on peak days. Halloween was the biggest day across the board, with large central metros processing ~72K orders at a $40 AOV (the highest AOV for urban shops all year).
Suburban and Fringe Metro Areas
Large fringe metros (suburban areas around major cities) consistently show the highest AOV, regularly hitting $38β$47 on peak days. Super Bowl Sunday posted an extraordinary $47 AOV in these areas. These customers order bigger β more items, more add-ons, more family-size deals.
Small Metro and Micropolitan Areas
Smaller markets show strong loyalty patterns. While volume is lower, AOV holds steady at $36β$42 on peak days, and these areas saw some of the highest per-shop engagement rates. Valentine’s Day and Super Bowl Sunday drive outsized AOV spikes here too.
Rural Areas
Rural pizzerias see the smallest order counts but maintain respectable AOVs of $33β$38 on top days. Interestingly, rural areas show stronger spikes around major holidays (Thanksgiving week, Christmas week, New Year’s Eve) compared to event-driven days like Pi Day, suggesting these communities rally around family gathering moments.
