Small Business Week pizzeria action plan to increase business

Small Business Week is the one week a year when the whole country is paying attention to local, independent businesses (even though it should be year-round).

Customers are more conscious about where they spend. The press is writing about the local main street businesses. And it’s a chance for your pizzeria to get in on the celebration.

We’ve put together five actions, one per day, Monday through Friday, that directly grow your shop’s revenue and visibility. None of them require a marketing budget. All of them take under 10 minutes. And every single one is built on data from shops that have already done it.

Do all five. Pick three. Do one. Do more. Whatever you choose, this is the week to move.

Monday
Ask a regular to leave you a Google review.

Shops with 50+ Google reviews get significantly more orders from new customers than shops with under 10.

Action item
Text 3–5 regulars today. Something like:
‘Hey, it’s [name] from [shop]. If you’ve got 2 minutes, a Google review would mean a lot to us this week. [link].’
That’s it.
Done is better than polished.

Tuesday
Check your online ordering experience.

Online orders average $44. Phone orders average under $33. That $11 gap is the most important number in your business.

Check that your ordering link is on your Google Business Profile. Check that your menu has photos. Check that checkout works on mobile. If any of those three are broken, you’re losing orders every single day.

Action item:
Spend 10 minutes auditing your online ordering setup. Use the readiness checklist at the link below. Fix the first thing you find that’s broken.

Thursday
Post once. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

81% of sales at top independent pizzerias come from repeat customers, and social media is how you stay top of mind between orders.

‘Happy Small Business Week from [Shop Name]’ and a photo of your pizza. That’s the post. Your regulars want to see you show up. They want to know you’re still there, still making great pizza, still part of the neighborhood.

Action item:
Post one photo today. Real photo, real food, real shop.
Tag #SBWWithSlice if you want to be featured.

Friday
Remind customers what they’re actually supporting.

When customers order from you instead of a chain, they’re paying your mortgage, your kids’ school, your employee’s rent.

Small Business Week is the one week they’re already thinking about this. Say it in your story, at the counter, on the box, and always as a genuine thank you. ‘This week and every week, thank you for ordering from us. It means more than you know.’

Action item:
Add one message to your pizza boxes going out today; a sticker, a stamp, or a printed note. Or post it on your Instagram Story.

Why Small Business Week is different for pizzerias

Small Business Week isn’t just a hashtag. It’s the one week a year when the consumers shift their mindset, take a break from the faceless chains, and show love to the independents.

Customers are making intentional decisions about where they spend. And the shops that capture this attention aren’t the ones with the biggest marketing budgets. They’re the ones that show up, with a Google review ask, a social post, a referral, a note on the box. Small moves that happen to land in a big week.

Looking to grow your shop’s online presence?

Your complete guide to getting noticed is here.

Your week. Your move.

Five days. Five actions. None of them complicated. All of them compounding.

The shops that are meaningfully ahead in six months are the ones that use Small Business Week to start something: a review habit, a direct ordering channel, a referral, a deepened customer relationship. Even if you just pick one thing, and you can’t do all five, you’re still in a better place than you were last week.
