No one is self-made: Stephen Menna’s path from mortgage broker to pizzeria mogul

Stephen Menna began his career as a title insurance closer/mortgage broker. After the market crash in 2008, he wanted to fall back on what he loved growing up in an Italian-American household: bringing people together through food. He started hosting pizza parties in his backyard and hasn’t looked back since. Stephen has been operating Tufino Pizzeria in Astoria, New York for over 12 years, and has since ventured into two more pizzerias and the CBD frozen pizza business

Stephen emphasizes that no one is self-made — and although he taught himself the craft through experimentation and endless sacrifice — he wouldn’t have been able to do it without the love and support of family and friends. Stephen encourages people to follow their passion, lean into a growth mind-set, and ask for help when you need it.
