Where New York “tradita” meets a fresh twist
Leo Krkuti, the owner of Traditas Pizza, carries on a rich family legacy in the pizza business. Growing up in Brooklyn, he spent his childhood weekends alongside his father and uncle, who built a successful pizzeria empire. From stocking fridges to operating the register, Leo was immersed in the craft from a young age.
In 2022, Leo decided to open his own shop, despite the challenge of stepping away from his family’s successful legacy. “I had a vision that I wanted to execute. Now, two shops later, this pizza is a thing here in New York City,” Leo says. By honoring family recipes and adding his own twist, Leo has helped Traditas establish its own identity in the competitive New York pizza scene.
Despite opening during a challenging time, Leo’s focus on community and staffing has paid off. He values team camaraderie and treats his staff as partners, saying, “If the shop wins, you win,” believing a happy, motivated team creates a welcoming environment.
Traditas blends classic New York flavors with innovative pies, attracting both loyal locals and newcomers. By honoring his family legacy, Leo has built more than a pizzeria — he’s created a hub where “tradita”, or tradition in Albanian, meets the times.
