Prep for a heart-racing Valentine’s Day rush

According to Slice data on thousands of pizzerias, Valentine’s Day can be a 33% increase in orders!

Given the Super Bowl rush was just last weekend, it can be overwhelming to think about being ready for another big order day, but, you’ve got this, and we’re here to help!

Here are five tips to help you prepare for a successful Valentine's Day.

1. Add a special menu item: who doesn't love a heart-shaped pizza or a bundle?

Help your customers plan the perfect Valentine’s Day meal by adding a special bundle, deal or heart-shaped pizzas to your menu. Not only does this make it easier for customers to order, but it also gives you a chance to bundle your best-selling items and increase your sales.

2. Play Cupid with love notes

Go the extra mile with small, thoughtful details to make your customers feel the love. Consider getting creative by writing sweet Valentine’s Day messages on your pizza boxes. Imagine how special it would feel to receive a message on your pizza box.

Anything from “thank you for being a loyal customer”, to “we appreciate you” and “your order made our day” will help set you apart.

3. Post on social: build anticipation and engagement

The days leading up to Valentine’s Day are the perfect time to get your customers excited! Use social media to tease your Valentine’s Day specials with playful posts. Share sneak peeks of your heart-shaped pizzas, limited-time offers, or even a fun, heartwarming story about how your pizzas bring people together. Don’t forget to include any special discount codes or offers so your followers can feel extra special. Social media is a great way to build anticipation and drive traffic to your shop. The more you engage, the more likely your customers are to choose you as their Valentine’s Day dinner destination!

4. Staff appropriately: love Is in the air, but so is the rush

Valentine's Day is one of the busiest days of the year for pizza shops, so it's essential to plan your staffing accordingly. Be sure to schedule extra staff for both the kitchen and delivery roles. You may want to consider having a few extra hands in the front of the house to ensure orders are processed quickly and efficiently.

5. Offer delivery and Pickup

Valentine's Day is often about convenience, and many couples prefer a cozy night in. Make sure your delivery and pickup options are easy to navigate. It may also be a good idea to encourage customers to place their orders in advance. This way, they don’t have to stress about longer delivery time. Enabling extra delivery support on your Slice POS is easy, just reach out to your account manager for help.

With a little prep and some creativity you can help your customers feel the love for each other, and your pizzeria.
